Yotsanu Wongsawat Chairs Meeting to Enhance Lives of People with Disabilities

Bangkok: Yotsanu Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, chaired a meeting of the National Committee for the Promotion and Development of the Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities. The meeting was aimed at promoting assistive technologies to help people with disabilities live lives equal to those of able-bodied individuals.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting was attended by Mr. Nikorn Somklang, Minister of Social Development and Human Security. Mr. Yotsanu discussed previous collaborations on projects to assist individuals with disabilities, including intellectual disability technologies and smart home innovations. He emphasized the importance of conducting further research to bring Thailand in line with other countries, particularly in the field of assistive devices.

Mr. Yotsanan highlighted the role of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in caring for people from childhood to old age, especially as the country enters an aging society. He assured people with disabilities that they are not alone and that the ministry understands their needs, aiming to ensure dignity and equality for everyone. He also mentioned the development of inclusive public transportation infrastructure, ensuring equal access for all users.

Mr. Yotsanan expressed satisfaction with the meeting's agenda and committed to performing his duties effectively. He reiterated the ministry's openness to integrating all aspects of life and collaborating with various sectors, including experts, to support people with disabilities. Matters requiring support will be presented at the Cabinet meeting to ensure comprehensive assistance and integration.
