Buriram: A potentially dangerous situation was averted in the Dong Yai district of Buriram province, where an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team successfully retrieved a 105mm anti-tank shell from a tree in the forest.
According to Thai News Agency, residents of Ban Lam Nang Rong, located in the Lam Nang Rong Subdistrict of Non Din Daeng District, initially discovered the suspicious object on August 10th. The object, resembling an explosive device, was lodged in a tree within the Dong Yai Wildlife Sanctuary. Concerned for public safety, the residents promptly informed the authorities.
In response to the report, the 2nd Army Region dispatched its military units to investigate the object. Upon examination, it was confirmed to be a 105-millimeter anti-tank explosive round. Recognizing the potential threat, the authorities ordered the area to be cordoned off to prevent access by civilians and reduce the risk of harm.
The Buriram Province EOD unit was then instructed to handle the retrieval of the explosive device. Following standard procedures, the EOD team successfully extracted the projectile, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. The retrieval operation has now been completed, and the site is secure.
