Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul led the Cabinet in a campaign to buy jasmine flowers for Mother's Day 2026, creating jobs for underprivileged people and contributing to social welfare funds. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul promoted the sale of jasmine flowers for National Mother's Day 2026, with proceeds going to assist those in need and provide scholarships for underprivileged children and youth.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that prior to the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul participated in a promotional campaign for the sale of jasmine flowers in honor of National Mother's Day 2026, organized by the National Council of Social Welfare of Thailand under Royal Patronage. The event was led by Mrs. Jarunan Ungpakorn, First Vice President of the National Council of Social Welfare, along with executives and staff from the council. The Prime Minister and members of the Cabinet also presented jasmine flowers to the Prime Minister and other members of the Cabinet.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of jasmine flowers will be donated to the Queen Sirikit Foundation and the Community Welfare Fund of the National Council of Social Welfare, to assist those in need and to provide scholarships to underprivileged children and youth nationwide.
The National Council of Social Welfare of Thailand organizes National Mother's Day celebrations annually, designating jasmine as its symbol. Jasmine is chosen because it represents purity and a delightful fragrance, much like the pure goodness and enduring gratitude of a mother in the hearts of her children. Groups of low-income housewives, students, and people with disabilities from welfare institutions in Bangkok and other provinces create jasmine flowers and related products, providing them with income to support themselves and their families.
