Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has addressed the concerns surrounding the transfers of civil servants, insisting that these movements are not acts of harassment. Anutin emphasized that the current administration is focused on aiding others rather than engaging in bullying tactics.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin questioned the intense scrutiny the government faced over these transfers, highlighting that such actions are routine and have occurred consistently throughout his time in and out of office. He assured that the transfers and appointments are carried out appropriately, aligned with the current situation and mission objectives, and are not intended to serve personal interests or grievances.
When questioned about the necessity of recruiting government officials for a four-month mission, Anutin reiterated that while civil servants should support governmental policies, this should not be done at the expense of others. He criticized past practices where officials supported policies while also bullying others, which he deemed unacceptable. Anutin assured that the government is dedicated to helping rather than harassing.
Regarding potential changes within the Ministry of Interior, Anutin stated that he is considering adjustments thoughtfully and has no intention of making hasty decisions like his predecessor.
