Ayutthaya: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, inspected the flood-affected areas in Phak Hai District, Ayutthaya, expressing his apologies to the local residents for the disaster. He conveyed his deep regret and acknowledged the hardships faced by the people, promising to take swift action to alleviate their suffering.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin and his entourage arrived at Wat Tha Din Daeng Temple, where they received a comprehensive briefing on the ongoing flood situation. The Prime Minister then engaged with the local villagers, taking time to greet village health volunteers and capture moments with them on his mobile phone.
During his address to the people of Tha Din Daeng, Anutin emphasized his commitment to observing the flood situation in the central region, starting with Ang Thong and extending into Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. He expressed admiration for the resilience and smiles of the people despite the prolonged flooding this year.
Anutin assured the residents that the government is fully aware of the hardships and has tasked each minister with overseeing the flood response in their respective areas. He emphasized the importance of expediting water management solutions and improving drainage efficiency to prevent further hardships for the people.
The Prime Minister also commended citizens who have sacrificed their agricultural lands to prevent flooding in economic zones. He expressed his gratitude for their selflessness and reiterated his commitment to minimizing the suffering caused by natural disasters.
Anutin highlighted the government’s efforts to expedite water release approvals to the Pa Sak River and the Gulf of Thailand, aiming to reduce water levels within one to two weeks. He also mentioned the role of various agencies in preventing permanent flooding and providing relief to affected households.
Additionally, Anutin outlined plans to allocate relief funds promptly, ensuring that affected families receive financial assistance within the next two weeks. He encouraged the public to participate in government welfare schemes like “Half-Half Plus” and the State Welfare Card, which aim to boost local economies and provide financial support to vendors.
The Prime Minister concluded by reiterating his responsibility to the people and his determination to provide the best possible care and support during this challenging time.
