Krungthai Upgrades Gold Wallet on Paotang App to Boost Investor Access

Bangkok: Krungthai Bank (KTB) is set to enhance the gold investment experience for its users through the Gold Wallet feature on the “Paotang” app. Effective November 7, 2025, the bank will adjust the minimum purchase, sale, and withdrawal of 99.99% pure gold from 0.1 ounce to 0.05 ounce. This move is designed to provide retail investors with easier access to safe assets amid a volatile global economy.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Rawin Boonyanusarn, Head of the Financial and Capital Markets Business Division at Krungthai Bank, explained that the global financial market is currently facing significant uncertainty. Contributing factors include the global and US economic slowdown, the ongoing China-US trade war, potential future interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, and geopolitical risks in various regions. These uncertainties have led to the price of gold reaching a new all-time high of $4,381.60 per ounce in October. In response, Krungthai Bank has reduced the minimum transaction amount for 99.99% pure gold to 0.05 ounces, or approximately 6,000 baht, depending on the exchange rate on the trading day. This adjustment is intended to facilitate investors’ gradual cost averaging (DCA) investment strategy and prepare for the possibility of increased interest in gold as a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty. Additionally, the change aims to boost liquidity in the domestic gold market, su
pport risk diversification, and enable more flexible portfolio management.

Krungthai Bank, recognized for its leadership in digital investment services, is committed to continuously developing its Gold Wallet on the Paotang app to cater to the growing demand for online gold investment. The service offers both 99.99% and 96.5% purity gold, allowing transactions in real-time in Thai baht and US dollars, based on global market prices. The Gold Wallet feature has been well-received by investors across the country, with over 685,698 accounts currently utilizing the service.
