Rayong: "Aunt Sanong," a resident of Rayong Province, has submitted a letter to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, alleging harassment by government officials over the erection of signs seizing her land. The letter, submitted at the Government House Complaints Center, details accusations of oppression, abuse of power, and harassment by officials who she claims have unlawfully seized her land despite verified ownership and possession for cultivation.
According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Sanong Pholwiset, along with Mr. Nattawut Wongniem, the personal lawyer of Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, arrived to seek justice for actions allegedly contradicting government policy. Mrs. Sanong claims that since Ms. Kochaphan Jariyatham took office on February 14, 2025, the facts have been distorted, and her power has been abused through harassment and oppression, ignoring the land verification results from the Department of Social Development and Welfare.
The petition states that Ms. Kochaphan, as a skilled administrative officer, previously threatened to seize the land, forcing Mrs. Sanong into a land division agreement with Mr. Krisada Chotiwanichkul, a local politician. This agreement, she claims, was made under duress and fear of the influence wielded by Mr. Krisada and his associates, leading to a division of her land that she believed would be seized.
On July 3, 2026, Ms. Kochaphan allegedly issued a letter prohibiting Mrs. Sanong from interfering with her land, which she had marked as private property. Mrs. Sanong subsequently filed a criminal complaint for trespassing and property damage, which is under investigation. Her objection to the order, she argues, was ignored, and officials at the self-help settlement violated protocols by mishandling her correspondence, necessitating her appeal to the Prime Minister.
Mrs. Sanong has expressed profound distress, citing the impact on her mental health and physical well-being, resulting in severe health issues and disability. She asserts that the actions of the officials have left her without land to cultivate, forcing her to seek refuge with the Prime Minister and other officials for justice.
Mrs. Sanong intends to further her complaint by addressing the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, the Permanent Secretary, and the Director-General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare, and plans to file with the Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Suppression Division of the Royal Thai Police.
