Bangkok: The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) board has resolved that the audit committee members responsible for the union's complaint against the manager must provide a conclusion within 30 days. This decision was made after a special meeting convened by Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, following a formal request from the State Enterprise Workers' Union of the BAAC.
According to Thai News Agency, the union submitted a letter requesting an investigation into Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, BAAC Manager, prompting the BAAC board to act swiftly. Mr. Winairoj Sapsongsook, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Chairman of the Public Relations Committee, communicated the board's decision to the union representatives. He assured that the committee is committed to transparency and good governance and will enhance communication with employees.
Mr. Prayad Thamkhun, the union chairman, expressed concern that the request to suspend Mr. Sirilai pending the investigation has not yet been addressed. He stated that the union awaits official documentation, and if a suspension is not enacted, this will be communicated to the employees.
The union's demands include suspending Mr. Sirilai to investigate allegations of budget misuse, overseas travel, procurement projects, and conflicts of interest. They also call for a review of Mr. Sirilai's contract renewal, an investigation into senior executives' comments, improvements in the loan analysis process, and compliance with employment conditions under the State Enterprise Labor Relations Act B.E. 2543. Additionally, the union seeks the reinstatement of their previous slogan, "Standing Together, Valuing the People."
