Bangkok: There are now 18 candidates vying for the position of Bangkok Governor and 258 candidates competing for seats in the Bangkok City Council. This increase follows the registration of two additional governor candidates today.
According to Thai News Agency, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has reported these figures for the upcoming elections scheduled between May 28 and June 1, 2026. The latest additions to the governor race are Ms. Lalana Mongkolsdin, candidate number 17, and Mr. Somchai Charoenworakiat, candidate number 18.
The race for the Bangkok City Council is also competitive, with 258 candidates running across 50 districts. The top five districts with the highest number of candidates include Khlong Sam Wa with 10 candidates, followed by Khan Na Yao, Phasi Charoen, and Yannawa with nine candidates each, and Phaya Thai with seven candidates.
