Sa kaeo: The 1st Army Region has provided a detailed explanation of the recent border clash in Sa Kaeo Province, affirming their response to suppress the incident and protect national sovereignty.
According to Thai News Agency, the 1st Army Region reported that the clash was initiated by the Cambodian side. The Thai forces acted to quell the situation and safeguard their territory. The Burapha Task Force received information about a shooting incident at J.T.S. 34-35, located in Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung District. The incident occurred on November 12, 2015, at 4:10 p.m., involving gunfire presumed to be from an AK-47, with approximately 30 rounds fired from the Cambodian side.
The Burapha Task Force responded by firing a warning shot and managed to calm the situation within approximately 10 minutes. It was confirmed that there were no casualties on the Thai side. The First Army Region emphasized that their actions, through the Burapha Task Force, adhered strictly to the rules of engagement. Retaliation was used only as a last resort to protect life and sovereignty. The troops engaged back with rifle fire aimed at the enemy’s origin, ensuring civilian targets were not affected in compliance with international law. The Thai forces ceased their response once the threat was neutralized.
