Bangkok: The BYD SEAL 5 DM-i SUPER PHEV has demonstrated its fuel efficiency by traveling over 1,200 kilometers on a single fill-up and charge under real-world driving conditions. Rev© showcased this capability by organizing a test drive from Chiang Rai to Bangkok for media representatives, highlighting the vehicle's impressive range.
According to Thai News Agency, the test drive featured several vehicles that successfully traveled over 1,200 kilometers without needing additional fuel or charging. The event, organized by BYD Auto (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Rever Automotive Co., Ltd., involved 88 media outlets participating in a caravan of 39 BYD SEAL 5 DM-i SUPER PHEV Standard model vehicles. The journey covered over 1,100 kilometers, with various driving conditions testing the vehicle's capabilities.
The route included congested city traffic, high-speed highways, and steep mountain roads, allowing media representatives to experience the vehicle's features beyond its fuel efficiency. The DM-i SUPER PHEV powertrain provides responsive acceleration and instant performance, typical of electric vehicles, coupled with high-performance suspension for a smooth ride. The spacious cabin, longest wheelbase in its class, and full range of convenient features ensure comfort for all passengers.
Each test vehicle underwent a single refueling and charging cycle, with fuel tanks and charging ports sealed to ensure fairness. The driving range and remaining fuel were monitored throughout the journey. At the event's conclusion, all vehicles reached the final checkpoint without needing further refueling or charging, confirming a real-world range of over 1,100 kilometers. Several vehicles even traveled over 1,200 kilometers with fuel remaining.
The BYD SEAL 5 DM-i SUPER PHEV is powered by a DM-i SUPER PHEV (Dual Mode-intelligent) system, combining a 1.5-liter engine with a high-performance electric motor. It delivers a maximum power of 160 kW and a torque of 300 Nm. The vehicle features the BYD Blade Battery, known for safety and efficiency, offering 85 kilometers of electric-only driving. It achieves a fuel consumption rate of 28.6 kilometers per liter, even when the battery is low.
The new variants, Standard and Dynamic, are now available for purchase at 599,900 THB and 659,900 THB, respectively.
