Bangkok: CAAT tightens its control over airline ticket prices after receiving reports of ticket cancellations and resale at high prices. The company emphasizes price controls to ensure they do not exceed legal ceilings.
According to Thai News Agency, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) revealed that after receiving orders from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Transport to investigate complaints of airlines canceling passenger tickets and requiring them to purchase new tickets at higher prices, the CAAT has immediately initiated a fact-finding investigation. If it is found that airlines are taking advantage of passengers or selling tickets above the legally stipulated fares, the CAAT will take strict legal action.
The CAAT reiterates that domestic fares on all routes are subject to regulatory control. Airlines are prohibited from selling tickets above the ceiling price and must comply with the maximum fares announced by the CAAT.
During this time of high demand for flights to Hat Yai, many people are traveling to Hat Yai District. The CAAT recommends that passengers check and compare ticket prices directly between airlines to ensure the best deal. If you encounter fares exceeding the ceiling or if you experience any unfair treatment towards passengers, you can file a complaint with the CAAT for immediate investigation.
CAAT also found that in many cases, passengers purchased tickets through overseas travel agents or Online Travel Agency (OTA) platforms, which are outside of CAAT’s oversight, resulting in prices potentially exceeding the legally regulated price.
Therefore, CAAT would like to emphasize that during periods of high travel demand, it is best to purchase tickets directly from airlines to ensure fair prices, within controlled price ranges, and that any issues can be investigated.
