Bangkok: The Cabinet has acknowledged the New Year's Happiness Project for the year 2026, specifically designed for farmers. According to Thai News Agency, the initiative has been proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and aims to deliver happiness and economic benefits during the New Year festivities.
Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the project, named "Sending Happiness for the New Year," involves a series of plans and projects under the Ministry's responsibility. These initiatives are designed to provide quality agricultural products, stimulate the domestic economy, increase spending, generate additional income, and reduce household expenses for farmers and the public. The project also includes offering enjoyment through visits to eco-tourism destinations and agricultural knowledge-sharing activities. All 76 provinces in the country will implement these activities under three main programs, benefiting an estimated 407,564 people and farmers with a total value of 27,734,760 baht.
The first program focuses on providing gifts to Thai farmers, ensuring they have sufficient food, resources, and income. It is expected to benefit 17,304 farmers and citizens across 5,322 households, covering an area of 6,371.25 rai, with an estimated value of 22,401,360 baht.
The second program enhances New Year celebrations with joyful travels throughout Thailand. Tourist attractions and agricultural learning centers will be opened to the public for free or at reduced fees during the festivals, benefiting an estimated 30,520 people with a total value of 500,000 baht. Government offices will also open their doors, offering snacks, drinks, scenic views, and agricultural education. This part of the program is expected to benefit 330,090 people and farmers, totaling 2,185,000 baht.
The third program focuses on boosting the New Year by offering special prices on quality agricultural products, using the budget of each agency to drive the operation. An estimated 29,650 farmers and citizens are expected to benefit, with goods and income valued at 2,648,400 baht.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives' New Year Happiness Project for Farmers in 2026 aims to deliver quality agricultural products, stimulate the domestic economy, and provide educational and recreational opportunities. The project will run from December 2025 to January 2026, with expectations of increased income and reduced household expenses for farmers and the public. Additionally, it seeks to raise awareness of the Ministry's achievements and foster a positive attitude towards collaborative development efforts with the Ministry.
