Bangkok: The Cabinet has resolved to appoint individuals to significant government positions, effective from Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The resolution includes a series of appointments and transfers within various government departments to optimize the administrative and operational efficiency of the public sector.
According to Thai News Agency, the Cabinet has approved the Ministry of Public Health's proposal to appoint 13 civil servants to senior academic positions, distributed across several government agencies. The appointments include four individuals within the Office of the Permanent Secretary, six in the Department of Medical Services, two in the Department of Disease Control, and one in the Department of Medical Sciences. These appointments are scheduled to take effect between March 2025 and September 2025, depending on when the individuals meet all required qualifications.
Additionally, the Cabinet has sanctioned the appointment of a new chairman and five qualified members to the Equitable Education Fund's Board of Directors, as the current members' terms expire on July 9, 2026. Professor Wuthisarn Tanchai has been appointed as Chairman, with other distinguished members from various sectors joining him. Their appointments will commence on July 10, 2026.
The Ministry of Justice's proposal was also accepted, with Police Lieutenant General Somprasong Yenthuam appointed as a qualified expert in criminal investigation to the Special Cases Committee. This appointment is effective from June 16, 2026, filling a vacancy created by a resignation.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has appointed two new members to the Board of Directors of the Forest Industry Organization. Mr. Krit Uttamawethin and Ms. Punrada Ingkulanon will assume their roles from June 16, 2026, replacing a retired member and adding an additional position.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the appointment of Mr. Pornchai Thirawech to the Metropolitan Electricity Authority Board of Directors, effective June 16, 2026. This appointment fills a vacancy left by a resignation.
A significant transfer within the Office of the National Land Policy Committee was also approved. Mr. Pavich Kesawong will move from the Department of Climate Change and Environment to become the Deputy Director of the Office of the National Land Policy Committee, effective upon royal appointment.
The Ministry of Transport's proposal to reappoint Ms. Pakkanat Makchuey as Governor of the Civil Aviation Institute for another term was also accepted. The reappointment will take effect from the signing of the employment contract, following the Cabinet's resolution.
The Ministry of Interior has been granted approval to transfer two civil servants into senior administrative roles. Mr. Nirat Pongsitthithavorn will transition from Governor of Phuket Province to Deputy Permanent Secretary, while Mr. Chotinrin Kerdsum will take over as Governor of Phuket Province. These transfers are effective from the date of the Royal Decree.
Lastly, the Cabinet has approved the appointment of two individuals to political positions within the Prime Minister's Secretariat, effective June 16, 2026. Mr. Peeraporn Suwanchawi and Mr. Pichai Charoensirisunthorn will assume these roles, alongside the appointment of Mr. Tatpong Sasomsap as Assistant Minister, effective upon the Prime Minister's announcement.
