Prime Minister Orders Urgent Report on Water Security Amid Super El Ni±o Concerns

Bangkok: The Cabinet is closely monitoring the "Super El Ni±o" phenomenon, as the Prime Minister has ordered a report on water security and agricultural plans to be submitted next week. Today, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed after the Cabinet meeting that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed concern over the Super El Ni±o situation. He stated that relevant agencies have already prepared and implemented measures to mitigate the impact.

According to Thai News Agency, the plan and measures will cover water for consumption, agriculture, industry, the environment, and biodiversity, which are crucial issues directly related to the well-being of the people and the economic security of the country. On this occasion, the Prime Minister instructed all responsible agencies to report their action plans and measures, including progress in preparedness, to the Cabinet meeting next week.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed concern for the lives and property of the public that may be affected by the erratic weather, thunderstorms, strong winds, and summer storms, which have resulted in trees and branches falling in many areas. The Ministry of Interior, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, local administrative organizations, and relevant agencies have been instructed to expedite the survey of high-risk areas, trim trees, inspect advertising signs, structures, and public utilities that may be affected, and develop preventive measures and contingency plans to be prepared to deal with any situation that may arise at any time.
