Kanchanaburi: A car crashed into a daycare center in Kaeng Sian Subdistrict, Kanchanaburi Province, injuring 15 children. According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred when a speeding car lost control at an intersection and crashed through a wall into the building housing a child development center. At the time of the accident, 34 young children, aged 2-4, were inside resting after lunch. The collision resulted in significant structural damage, with debris hitting the children, leading to panic and immediate intervention by teachers and staff to transport the injured to the hospital.
Upon inspection, a severely damaged sedan was found at the scene. The daycare center's fence was completely destroyed, and the car was discovered lodged against banana trees behind the center. The driver, Mr. Chatchawan Pantham, 54, along with two other passengers, also sustained injuries. Mr. Chatchawan reported experiencing a sudden blackout and dizziness, which led to the loss of control, causing the car to veer into the daycare center.
Police from Muang Kanchanaburi Police Station conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered an unidentified firearm, seizing it for further investigation. Authorities have ensured that the 15 injured children are in stable condition. Parents of uninjured children have been contacted to pick up their children and take them home.
