Chatchart Sittipunt Draws Number 9 in Bangkok Gubernatorial Race

Bangkok: "Chatchart" drew number 9 and said, "9 is a good number." Chatchart drew number 9, saying there has been improvement since the previous election, calling it "9 good, 9 positive," and then demonstrated his forward-moving walk.

According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere among supporters of the Bangkok gubernatorial candidates outside the Irawat Pattana Building, Bangkok City Hall 2, was lively after the candidate numbers were determined by lottery. The supporters quickly affixed the numbers to their campaign signs. Former Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt drew number 9. With a smiling face, Mr. Sittipunt stated that this was a positive development from his previous campaign, where he received number 8. He then demonstrated this with a gesture of holding up nine fingers, emphasizing that the public doesn't choose candidates based on their numbers but rather on their performance and policies.

Regarding the campaign, no official slogan has been chosen yet. The focus is on candidates contributing ideas and working towards the further progress of Bangkok. At the same time, the campaign will continue to work diligently and consistently, especially in combating corruption. To date, 41 officials have been disciplined and dismissed. The campaign also includes reforming systems and incorporating digital data for monitoring. It is emphasized that corruption is a major issue, not only in Bangkok but throughout the country, and therefore requires cooperation from all parties. Without this collective effort, progress will be difficult.

Regarding the campaign strategy, the focus will be on reaching out to people in various communities, coupled with the use of electronic media to reduce pollution from campaign signs. Public transportation, such as the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway, will also be used for campaigning, providing opportunities to talk with the public and listen to their problems directly.

The current political atmosphere reflects the vibrancy of democracy and shows that Bangkok still has hope. Citing a Dusit Poll survey indicating that 78% of the public believe the new Bangkok governor will improve the city, it signifies that Bangkok residents remain hopeful for the future of the city. They believe that after the election, the situation in Bangkok will improve because all parties have presented positive solutions to the public and that future cooperation is likely.

Mr. Chatchart then boarded a white electric vehicle (EV) campaign truck, accompanied by a convoy of tuk-tuks, playing upbeat music throughout the journey. He held up signs reading "Vote 9," and "City Creates Opportunities, Chatchart's Team Creates Hope." His first stop was at Din Daeng Flats on Pracha Songkhro Road, heading towards Victory Monument. He waved and greeted the public, distributing leaflets and engaging in conversation. Many people showed interest and asked to take photos with him.
