Civil Court Hosts 9th “Justice for the People” Event at Bangkok School for the Blind

Bangkok: The Civil Court organized its 9th "Justice for the People" event at the Bangkok School for the Blind in Ratchathewi District, Bangkok. Mr. Thiwakorn Phanawansombat, Deputy Chief Judge of the Civil Court, presided over the opening ceremony, which saw participation from 75 teachers and students with visual impairments.

According to Thai News Agency, the Chief Justice of the Civil Court assigned Mr. Tassanuch Kulsitchai, Secretary of the Civil Court, Mr. Natchanan Tharaphongphan, Chief Judge of the First Instance Panel in the Civil Court, and other judges to serve as speakers. The event's first segment aimed to impart basic knowledge about the judicial system, covering the mission of the judicial system, types of courts, and an overview of civil and criminal procedures for the attendees.

The program further educated participants about laws relevant to daily life, such as laws concerning children and youth, labor law, and basic civil law. A mock courtroom session allowed students to role-play scenarios typical in a courtroom, enhancing their understanding of courtroom procedures and roles. This activity was tailored to suit learning styles focusing on listening, touch, and active participation, ensuring comprehensive access to legal knowledge for the visually impaired students.

Moreover, Mr. Thani Singhanat, Chief Judge of the Civil Court, along with his team, presented scholarships and donated items from judges and civil court officials to a school for the underprivileged. The Bangkok Blind Project, a volunteer and charitable activity, was conducted in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 4th cycle birthday celebration.

As of June 3, 2026, the project had accumulated 52,995 baht in donations, comprising both money and items. The "Justice for the People" initiative aims to spread legal knowledge, citizens' rights and duties, and court procedures to vulnerable groups. Ensuring that everyone, including vulnerable populations, can access the justice system conveniently and equitably is a key component of the project, aligning with the Supreme Court President's policy for the fiscal year.
