Clashes Escalate in Buriram as Village Defense Volunteers Intensify Evacuee Checks

Buriram: Clashes continue in Buriram, with village defense volunteers intensifying efforts to prevent evacuees from returning to high-risk areas. These measures aim to ensure the safety of residents following ongoing conflicts.

According to Thai News Agency, village security teams in Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province, are actively patrolling houses to prevent displaced persons from returning to dangerous zones after recent clashes. Reports have confirmed that 33 artillery shells have recently landed in the area, highlighting the severity of the situation.

A village security volunteer revealed that several drones have been observed flying over the area. In response, they have alerted the district office and coordinated with villagers volunteering to guard their homes, advising them to turn off lights and seek shelter in bunkers to avoid becoming targets of Cambodian attacks. The volunteer expressed empathy for the villagers, acknowledging their desire to return home after many days, but emphasized the importance of waiting for official government announcements to ensure their safety.
