Construction Store Owner Reports Piggy Bank Theft in Udon Thani

Bangkok: A construction supply store owner in the Mueang Udon Thani district recently filed a report at the local police station after discovering her piggy bank had been smashed and 100,000 baht stolen.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Phutthasirin, who owns a construction materials store in Nong Bua Subdistrict, brought the damaged piggy bank to the authorities, seeking assistance to track down the thief responsible for the theft. The piggy bank, which had a large hole, was used by Ms. Phutthasirin to save money over the past year, consisting of various denominations including 1,000, 500, 100, 50, and 20 baht banknotes, as well as coins.

The money was kept in her son's room on the second floor of the shop. Seven days prior to filing the report, Ms. Phutthasirin discovered the piggy bank missing when she intended to use the savings. After questioning her 23-year-old son and the five employees, none admitted to taking or seeing the piggy bank. She assured them that if the piggy bank was returned, no charges would be pressed. Despite her efforts, the employees denied any involvement.

Eventually, the piggy bank was found at another location, broken open and emptied of its contents. The incident prompted Ms. Phutthasirin to report the matter to the police, who are now tasked with investigating the theft and identifying the perpetrator for prosecution.
