Bangkok: The Consumer Protection Board (CPB) has partnered with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to integrate their complaint system using Traffy Fondue, aimed at safeguarding consumers who receive products that do not match their descriptions.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairwoman of the CPB, highlighted the progress of this collaboration, stating that the Traffy Fondue system will serve as a new channel for receiving consumer complaints, thereby improving efficiency in consumer protection and assistance. This initiative, effective from August 20, allows complaints to be filed in a user-friendly manner, enabling consumers to track their progress periodically.
The Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) has secured cooperation from over 25 agencies, including the Office of Insurance Commission, the Department of Internal Trade, and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission. This collaboration ensures that complaints beyond the OCPB's jurisdiction are swiftly forwarded to the relevant agency, allowing for effective monitoring and ensuring fair treatment for consumers.
Ms. Jiraporn emphasized that online purchase complaints have been the most frequent. To tackle this, the OCPB is piloting a link between three major platforms-Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok-and Traffy Fondue. This integration aims to address consumer rights violations related to online purchases by directly sending complaints to these platforms for resolution, with the OCPB ensuring fair treatment for consumers.
She also confirmed that the system link between the OCPB and Traffy Fondue is now fully operational, offering a new avenue for filing complaints as of August 20. The OCPB plans to evaluate the service's effectiveness continually to enhance and refine its consumer protection efforts.
