Bangkok: The government has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and providing compensation amid the Thai-Cambodian border situation. This update follows the Cabinet resolution on August 19, 2025, emphasizing security and relief for affected citizens.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Government Spokesperson Ms. Sasikan Wattanachan detailed the government's systematic approach, aligning with international norms. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has actively engaged internationally, while the Ministry of Defense has secured borders alongside the Royal Thai Armed Forces. Public safety measures include shelters and resources from the Ministry of Interior and collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Further initiatives involve the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, which have adapted educational methods and provided temporary shelters. Vulnerable groups receive support from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the Ministry of Public Health, with coordination centers and essential supplies in place.
Compensation efforts are underway, with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security expediting relief payments. The Ministry of Interior has allocated 145 million baht in reserve funds to aid disaster victims. Economic relief is facilitated by the Ministry of Commerce, enhancing border trade for local entrepreneurs.
Addressing ongoing challenges, the government is pursuing international legal action against offenders, dismantling explosives, and investigating drone activities. Safe zones are being established through a multi-agency effort, including the National Security Council and the Ministry of Defense.
The Ministry of Interior's recent report highlights the impact on over 7 provinces, affecting approximately 779,000 people. Emergency relief measures include a budget of over 201 million baht, with significant allocations to Buriram, Sisaket, and Surin provinces. Aid encompasses food, shelter, and medical care, with disaster relief funds and supplies distributed to affected regions.
Ms. Sasikarn underscored the urgent nature of the CCSA's work, ensuring ministries address the crisis comprehensively.
