Bangkok: "Bhumtham" confirmed that the case against "Adisorn and the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship" for causing unrest in 2009 was in accordance with the law after he failed to attend the hearing of the UDD case. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, acting as Prime Minister, addressed the case of Mr. Adisorn Piangket, a Pheu Thai Party list MP, who failed to attend the verdict in the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) case against him for causing unrest during the protests to oust the government of then-Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva between January 31 and April 9, 2009, leading to the court issuing an arrest warrant. He stated that he was unaware of the matter, having just returned from announcing a drug bust in Chiang Mai province. However, Mr. Adisorn's case is protected by privileges as an MP. He insisted that everything was proceeding according to legal procedures, and that the law would address any issues.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai reassured the public that the legal system is handling the situation appropriately. He emphasized that despite Mr. Adisorn's absence at the hearing, the legal framework provides mechanisms to address such situations, and due process is being followed. The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that the privileges afforded to Mr. Adisorn as an MP are being duly considered within the legal proceedings.
