Bangkok: Bhumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has stated that he has not yet discussed with Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra the impending Constitutional Court hearing scheduled for tomorrow.
According to Thai News Agency, Bhumtham mentioned that he doesn't perceive the political climate as heated and was not present at the Pheu Thai Party meeting with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as he spent the entire day at Government House.
The Constitutional Court is set to review a case involving Prime Minister Shinawatra and an audio clip of a conversation with Samdech Hun Sen. Bhumtham, acting as Prime Minister, expressed uncertainty about the details of tomorrow's meeting and who would be attending.
Bhumtham addressed the concerns about the political situation, emphasizing that he doesn't feel alarmed by it. He assured that the ongoing issues at the Thai-Cambodian border are being managed according to the General Border Committee agreement.
In a related development, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his role as ASEAN Chair, highlighted the ongoing work of a previously formed committee, noting the need for additional personnel. He suggested the use of ASEAN military attach©s and embassy personnel if necessary, opposing the involvement of external personnel. Anwar's concerns focus on the observer team's work, while the issue of a phone found with a Cambodian soldier demonstrating explosive use remains undiscussed with him. The matter is expected to be addressed in the next GBC meeting scheduled for September.
