Crane Collapse on Train in Nakhon Ratchasima: Police Launch Rescue and Investigation

Nakhon ratchasima: The Commissioner General of Police has ordered a swift rescue operation for those affected by the crane collapse onto the train, a rapid investigation into the cause of the accident, and legal action against those involved. Pol. Lt. Gen. Chaitpoj Suwannarak, Commander of the Personnel Office and Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, revealed that Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panpetch, the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, has urgently ordered the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, along with forensic officers, to immediately enter the area to provide assistance, facilitate traffic, and transport those affected by the incident where a construction crane for the high-speed rail project fell onto a train that was traveling on the tracks in Sikhiu District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident resulted in the derailment of train number 21, which departed from Bangkok Apiwat Station bound for Ubon Ratchathani Station. There were numerous fatalities and injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 AM today.

The National Police Chief has instructed forensic police to expedite the investigation of the area, meticulously collecting evidence to determine the true cause of the incident and to use it in prosecuting those involved according to legal procedure.

At the same time, I have instructed all relevant police units to closely monitor the situation and provide assistance to those affected, as well as enforce the law in all aspects urgently and thoroughly.
