Department of Water Resources Promotes Regional Thai Goods and Traditions at Unique Market Event

Bangkok: Dress in traditional Thai attire, offer alms to monks, and shop for quality products from all four regions of Thailand at the Department of Water Resources market. The Department of Water Resources invites the public to experience the best of Thailand's regional products through its event, "Wear Thai traditional clothing, offer alms, and stroll through the market." This initiative aims to showcase the interconnection between public water sources and community security.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Water Resources has launched the event under the theme "The Best of 4 Regions: From Public Water Resources to Community Security." The market features produce and products from water resource development projects across the nation, representing the journey from water security to economic development. The event also promotes the wearing of Thai silk and the tradition of offering alms to monks, reflecting efforts to preserve Thai culture and identity.

Mr. Teerachun Boonstit, Director-General of the Department of Water Resources, emphasized that the department is working in line with government policies and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to enhance the development, conservation, and restoration of water resources. The objective is to ensure that the public, particularly farmers, have adequate water resources for agriculture and their livelihoods, thereby benefiting the economy and improving community quality of life.

The department's initiatives have resulted in the creation of water resources that support agricultural production, occupation, income, and area development. Examples include the Ban Khlong Bong Phatthana Sufficiency Economy Village's expansion into organic farming, the Lam Phachi overflow weir's connection to community tourism at "Ohm Poi Market," and the Huai Mae Hia Noi Reservoir project, a royal initiative supporting agriculture and consumption.

To further promote these successes, the Department of Water Resources has gathered "the best products from all four regions of Thailand" at the "Department of Water Resources Market." This event aims to connect community products with consumers, enhancing sales opportunities and highlighting the value of regional goods. The initiative focuses on how water resource development has facilitated production and income generation, driving continuous and sustainable community benefit.
