Buriram: A deputy police inspector from Chokchai Police Station, identified as Police Lieutenant Teerapong Rongsirit, has been apprehended by local residents after a fatal shooting incident at a fitness center in Buriram. Teerapong stormed into the fitness center, called his wife and mother-in-law out, and shot them, resulting in the death of his wife and serious injury to his mother-in-law.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place in front of a fitness center behind the Sa Ya Ma Market in Nang Rong Subdistrict, Nang Rong District. Authorities found the body of Ms. Treeraya, also known as Bam, aged 37, with a gunshot wound to her head. Despite emergency responders performing CPR and rushing her to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. Ms. Manthana, 58, the mother-in-law, was shot in the right shoulder. Rescue workers transported her to the hospital, and her condition is now stable.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the deputy police inspector entered the fitness center, called the two women outside, and fired three shots at close range. Ms. A, an eyewitness, described seeing Teerapong approach Ms. Manthana, grab her by the neck, and shoot her. He then called his wife, Bam, and shot her as well, leaving both women in a pool of blood.

Mr. Prachuap, a contractor working at the fitness center, recounted hearing arguments followed by gunshots. He witnessed a fitness instructor chasing the gunman and joined in the pursuit, helping to apprehend Teerapong, who sustained a leg injury during the incident.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, though it has been noted that Teerapong and his wife had been living separately for three years without a legal divorce. The couple has two children, aged 9 and 5. The woman's family is respected in Nang Rong and Nong Ki districts. Police have collected evidence and are continuing their investigation into the case.
