Bangkok: The selection process for the Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has moved forward with only two applicants meeting the necessary qualifications. Dr. Meechai Inwood and Ms. Prodpran Samanmit have been shortlisted as potential candidates for the coveted position.
According to Thai News Agency, the SAT opened applications for the Governor's position from July 15 to 29, 2026, and received ten applications. On August 7, 2026, the SAT Governor Selection Committee, led by Ms. Natthariya Thaweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, announced that only Dr. Meechai Inwood and Ms. Prodpran Samanmit met the required criteria to proceed further.
The Selection Committee for the Governor of the SAT conducted a meeting on August 7, 2026, to evaluate the applicants. Dr. Meechai Inwood, currently serving as Deputy Governor of SAT for Administration, and Mrs. Prodpran Samanmit, Deputy Governor of SAT for Professional Sports and Boxing, were found to fulfill the qualifications necessary to advance in the selection process. The committee's decision aligns with the established guidelines for the selection process of the SAT Governor.
The next stages in the selection process involve an English communication proficiency test scheduled for August 10, 2026, at the Devawongse Varoprakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs. The test will be conducted as follows: Dr. Meechai Inwood at 09:30-09:50 AM and Mrs. Prodpran Samanmit at 09:50-10:10 AM. The results from this test will be combined with interview scores, with interviews set to take place on August 13, 2026, at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports' Government Complex. Dr. Meechai Inwood is scheduled for a 10:00 AM interview, while Ms. Prodpran Samanmit will be interviewed at 11:00 AM.
