Drunken Driver Claims to Be Royal Irrigation Official in Road Rage Incident

Lampang: A man, allegedly claiming to be a high-ranking official from the Royal Irrigation Department, was involved in a road rage incident on Thipwan Road near the Sri Chum intersection. The man, appearing intoxicated, sideswiped a Toyota Camry while driving a Toyota Fortuner and subsequently fled the scene, stating he needed to sleep.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred around 9:45 PM on June 1, 2026, prompting police officers from the Lampang City Police Station to respond to reports of a car accident and a violent altercation. When police arrived, they found the Camry blocking the Fortuner, with visible damage to the Camry's left side. Both drivers were engaged in a heated argument, drawing a crowd of onlookers.

Initial questioning revealed that the Camry owner and his wife were driving normally when the Fortuner veered left, scraping their vehicle. The Fortuner driver refused to negotiate and appeared intoxicated when confronted. The Camry driver then blocked the Fortuner's escape and contacted the police. Upon arrival, police officers managed the situation and directed both parties to undergo necessary procedures, including administering an alcohol test to the Fortuner driver.
