Bangkok: The People's Party of Thailand (PPT) has announced the appointment of Surapol Nitikraipoj as the chairman of the strategic team for the upcoming Bangkok governorship. The announcement marks a significant step in the party's preparation for the elections, with Surapol leading the charge in strategic planning.
According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Surapol Nitikraipoj, who previously served as the Rector of Thammasat University, has been named as the strategic advisor for the party's gubernatorial leadership team. This appointment comes as part of the People's Party's broader unveiling of their complete leadership team, which was first introduced on May 5th. The team includes a mix of both party members and external experts, such as Professor Amorn Pimanamas and Dr. Pairoj Boonsirichai.
Mr. Pijarn Chaowapatanawong, the Secretary-General of the People's Party, explained that the decision to appoint Professor Surapol was rooted in his expertise in public law. Professor Surapol is noted for his advisory roles on laws related to decentralization and the restructuring of Bangkok's administration. His prior experience includes serving as the chairman of Bangkok Thanakom Co., Ltd., a company used by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for large infrastructure projects such as the Green Line Skytrain and waste management initiatives.
Should Mr. Chaiwat Sathavorawichit, candidate number 10 for Bangkok governor, be elected, he will benefit from the strategic guidance and insights of Professor Surapol and his team. Their expertise is expected to aid in efficient governance and address past administrative challenges promptly, providing a seamless transition and improvement in the city's administration.
