Prime Minister Calls for Strategic Discussions on Southern Border Provinces and Future Budget

Bangkok: The Prime Minister called for discussions on several issues before the Cabinet meeting, focusing mainly on the situation in the southern border provinces. The meeting took place at the Khu Fah Building, where the Prime Minister, alongside Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed various parties about pressing national matters.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister held discussions with key security agencies to assess the ongoing situation in the southern border region. The Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPC) provided a briefing on the progress in these areas, highlighting the need for continued attention and strategic planning.

Several high-profile figures attended the meeting, including Deputy Prime Minister Yotsanan Wongsawat, Minister of Labour Julaphan Amornvivat, and security officials. Among the security officials present were Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, and General Tharaphong Malakham, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence. The Secretary-General of the SBPC, Mr. Piyasiri Wattanavarangkul, was also present to report on the oil situation in the region.

The discussions were not limited to security concerns. The Prime Minister and ministers also focused on the upcoming 2027 budget, aiming to ensure financial strategies align with national priorities. Additionally, Mr. Anutin convened with Admiral Pairoj Fuengchan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, to plan the royal barge procession for the royal Kathina robe presentation ceremony in 2026, marking Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 4th cycle birthday anniversary.

The meeting underscored the government's commitment to addressing the complex issues facing the southern border provinces and ensuring a cohesive approach to national security and economic planning.
