Maha sarakham: A sedan driver fell asleep at the wheel, crashing into a parked car and then flipping onto its side in the middle of the road. According to Thai News Agency, the driver, identified as a senior education specialist from Maha Sarakham University, admitted to falling asleep while driving, resulting in the accident near the Research and Cultural Center of the university.
CCTV footage showed the moment when a gray sedan with Maha Sarakham license plates collided with a black sedan parked on the roadside. The black sedan, which had a Roi Et license plate, was damaged while its driver was buying fruit. Despite the severity of the crash, no injuries or fatalities occurred. The gray sedan overturned in the middle of the road following the impact.
Investigators from the Mahasarakham City Police Station, along with rescue workers, arrived at the scene promptly. They found the gray sedan overturned, with significant damage to its front left side. The parked black sedan also sustained damage to its rear right side due to the impact.
A fruit vendor at the scene reported hearing a loud crash while preparing customer orders. Upon turning around, she witnessed the gray sedan overturned and the parked car damaged. Ms. Sakultala, the owner of the parked sedan, recounted parking her car to buy mangoes and rambutan salad. While waiting to pay, she heard the crash and discovered her car had been hit, though thankfully no one was inside at the time.
The driver confessed to falling asleep, which caused his vehicle to veer off course and collide with the parked car. Police have documented the scene, reviewed CCTV footage, and are gathering evidence to proceed with legal action against the driver.
