Bangkok: Five days remain until the registration deadline for voting in the Social Security Board elections. The government is extending an invitation to insured persons to participate in shaping the future of labor welfare, emphasizing that registration will be open until July 20th.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongslueykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the election for the Social Security Board, representing both employers and employees, is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026. Since June 1st, the Social Security Office has been facilitating registration for both employers and employees. Currently, around 1 million people have registered, yet many more are still expected to do so. Consequently, the registration period has been extended until July 20th, from the original deadline of July 15th, 2026.
Eligible voters include insured persons under Section 33, Section 39, and Section 40, along with employers within the social security system. Each eligible individual can vote for up to seven representatives from their respective group. With over 11 million eligible insured persons and more than 400,000 eligible employers, the extended registration period aims to enhance accessibility to voting rights.
Captain Patthadarasmi highlighted that the Social Security Board election presents a crucial opportunity for insured persons and employers to engage in policy-making, benefit oversight, and the management of the Social Security Fund, which is valued at over 2.9 trillion baht. Insured persons can register online to vote in the election through the Social Security Office website, www.sso.go.th, or via the SSO Plus application, available 24 hours a day. Recent improvements to the online system have been made to ensure greater stability and accommodate a high volume of users simultaneously.
