Ekniti and Laworn Meet Prime Minister to Discuss State Welfare Card Criteria

Bangkok: Ekniti and Laworn met with the Prime Minister to discuss new criteria for the state welfare card before the Pracharath board makes a decision this afternoon. This comes amidst criticism regarding the use of parents' names for tax deductions.

According to Thai News Agency, reporters said that this afternoon, at approximately 1:45 PM, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapas, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Lavaron Saengsnit, arrived at Government House. It is believed they were summoned for a meeting with Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, prior to the 3:00 PM meeting of the Committee on Public-Private Partnership for the Grassroots Economy and Society at the Ministry of Finance. This meeting will review the eligibility criteria for the new state welfare card program, following criticism regarding the use of parents' names for tax deductions and the potential disqualification of eligible individuals. Shortly afterward, the Prime Minister arrived at Government House, rolled down his car window, and waved to the media recording the event.
