Bangkok: The court sentenced the bomber of the Erawan Shrine at Ratchaprasong intersection to death in a high-profile case from 11 years ago. Today (June 11, 2026), the Bangkok South Criminal Court scheduled a hearing to deliver its verdict in the Ratchaprasong intersection bombing case from August 17, 2015. The Bangkok South Criminal Prosecution Office filed charges against Adem Karadak, Mairili Yusuf, and others for the bombing of the Erawan Shrine at Ratchaprasong intersection on August 17, 2015, which resulted in 20 deaths (14 foreigners and 6 Thais) and over 100 injuries.
According to Thai News Agency, nearly 11 years have passed since the incident, and more than 400 prosecution witnesses and over 45 defense witnesses have testified, with over 10,000 pages of case documents. The court recently sentenced Adem Karadak and Mairili Yusuf to death for their involvement in the Ratchaprasong intersection bombing, and fined them 1,000 baht each for carrying weapons in public.
