Bangkok: An elderly couple riding a motorcycle to appeal their state welfare card eligibility were hit by a pickup truck following behind. The husband was injured, while the wife died at the scene in front of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) branch in Tha Daeng, Nong Phai District, Phetchabun Province.
According to Thai News Agency, a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle in front of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) branch in Tha Daeng, Nong Phai District, Phetchabun Province. At the scene, a blue and white motorcycle was found with minor damage. Nearby, the body of Mrs. Bua, 75 years old, was found. One person, Mr. Mong, 72 years old, was injured and taken to Nong Phai Hospital. A white pickup truck, driven by Mr. Mok, 70 years old, was found nearby with minor damage to its left headlight.
Initial investigations revealed that before the incident, Mr. Mong was riding a motorcycle with Mrs. Bua as a passenger, on their way to the bank to appeal a state welfare card issue. A pickup truck was following behind. As they approached the bank, the motorcycle turned in front of the pickup truck, causing a collision that knocked them both down. Police will investigate further to determine the true cause of the accident.
