Bangkok: The Election Commission has issued a directive prohibiting the surveying and publication of polls related to municipal elections. This ban will be in effect from May 4 to May 11, covering the period before and after the election day.
According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission Office has outlined this measure to prevent any potential influence on the election of municipal council members and mayors scheduled for Sunday, May 11. The directive is in compliance with the Election Commission's regulations on campaigning methods and prohibited activities in elections for local council members or administrators, specifically B.E. 2563 and its amendments (No. 2) B.E. 2563. These regulations strictly prohibit candidates and political parties from conducting or facilitating public opinion surveys that could sway voter decisions.
The ban also extends to the disclosure or publication of survey results, effective from May 4, 2025, until the polls close on May 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. This measure aims to ensure a fair and unbiased election process by preventing any undue influence on the electorate during the critical period surrounding the elections.
