Election Commission Issues Warning on Poll Result Publication Ahead of Bangkok and Pattaya Elections

Bangkok: The Election Commission has issued a stern warning against the publication of election poll results for Bangkok and Pattaya in the week leading up to the election. This directive applies specifically to the elections for Bangkok Governor, Bangkok City Council, Pattaya Mayor, and Pattaya City Council.

According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission of Thailand has requested that candidates, political parties, media outlets, opinion pollsters, and the public refrain from disclosing or publishing opinion poll results regarding voting from June 21, 2026, until the close of polls at 5:00 PM on June 28, 2026. This request is in line with the Commission's regulations on campaigning methods and prohibited activities for local council members or administrators, as outlined in Article 23/2 of the B.E. 2563 (2020) and its amendments. These regulations prohibit the disclosure of public opinion polls during the 7 days prior to the election to ensure fair campaigning practices.

The primary aim of the prohibition is to ensure that elections are conducted with integrity and fairness. It seeks to allow eligible voters to make decisions independently, without being swayed by opinion polls that could influence their choices leading up to election day.

The Election Commission of Thailand also emphasizes the importance of adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. They encourage all eligible voters to participate in the election on June 28, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at their designated polling stations, with the intent of fostering a fair, transparent, and unbiased electoral process.
