Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand has clarified that the online claims circulating about the approval of the "Half-Price Plus" Phase 2 scheme are false. According to the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT), a video clip and message have been spreading on social media, alleging that the ECT approved a 40 billion baht budget for the project to aid with living costs and stimulate the economy during the New Year period.
According to Thai News Agency, The ECT has issued a press release emphasizing that this information is incorrect. They have not approved any such resolution concerning the "Half-Price Plus Phase 2" project. Furthermore, the Cabinet has not submitted any proposal related to the project for the ECT's consideration.
The news suggesting that the Election Commission has sanctioned the 'Half-Price Plus' Phase 2 scheme is therefore deemed to be fake. Investigations are underway to identify the originators or distributors of this misinformation, and legal actions are being considered.
The ECT urges the public not to believe or disseminate unverified messages or video clips. They advise verifying information directly with the Election Commission Office or through their hotline at 1444.
