Uthai thani: Deep in the mountains of Uthai Thani lies an "Unseen" tourist attraction that you must experience at least once. But before reaching your destination, you must crawl through a 60-meter-long dark cave, passing through the Huai Pa Tad valley where you'll see bats in abundance, before opening the door to a "prehistoric world."
According to Thai News Agency, Huai Pa Tad is a top destination for tourists from all over the country, offering a chance to experience the beauty of an ancient forest. Recognized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand as an "Unseen" attraction of the province, it's located within the Tham Prathun Wildlife Sanctuary in Lan Sak District, Uthai Thani Province. Huai Pa Tad is a large natural basin surrounded by steep limestone cliffs. Inside, you'll find stalactites and stalagmites, and a variety of ancient plant life, especially the 'Tad' palm tree, which covers over 7 rai (approximately 2.8 acres), creating a lush, ancient forest. The atmosphere is shady and cool year-round, as if you've stepped back millions of years. Before entering Huai Pa Tad, tourists must walk through a dark cave for 60 meters. Park staff will provide flashlights to illuminate the colonies of bats clinging to the cave ceiling. After exiting the cave, concrete stairs lead down to the ancient forest, where you can explore a 700-meter nature trail. The tranquil atmosphere and the challenging path create an adventurous feeling of stepping into an ancient world, making you want to return again.
Another important highlight is that it is home to the "pink dragon millipede," a rare animal found exclusively in the Huai Pa Tad valley in Thailand, during the months of August to November. In addition, it is home to over 100 species of wild animals and birds, reflecting the richness of the ecosystem in the area.
