Amnat charoen: Minister Suksomruay Wantaniyakul returned to Amnat Charoen to file a defamation complaint against Mr. Yingcheep Atchanont, challenging the dignity of the accusations made against her.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Suksomruay Wantaniyakul, who serves as Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and represents Amnat Charoen Constituency 1 under the Bhumjaithai Party, officially filed a defamation lawsuit at the Amnat Charoen Provincial Police Station. The complaint was lodged against Mr. Yingcheep Atchanont, Project Manager of the Internet for People's Law (iLaw), for defamation by publication, following accusations of her involvement in a collusion scheme related to the Senate elections.
Ms. Suksomruay explained her decision to file the report in Amnat Charoen, emphasizing that it coincided with her return home and local commitments. These included attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the Luang Pu Saeng Yanawaro Building at Huatapan Hospital and leading a merit-making event at Wat Thepmongkol. She clarified that her actions were simply a matter of exercising her legal rights and not an attempt to file a SLAPP lawsuit.
In response to Mr. Yingcheep's assertion that filing the report would be undignified, Ms. Suksomruay questioned the fairness and dignity of his accusations. She highlighted the lack of evidence in Mr. Yingcheep's claims and suggested that his statements might be driven by ulterior motives, considering the Election Commission is still deliberating on the collusion case. She expressed feeling falsely accused based on outdated information.
Ms. Suksomruay also urged Mr. Yingcheep to consider the perspective of iLaw, questioning how they would react if accused of political bias and questionable funding without evidence. Her comments underscored the importance of fair scrutiny and accountability in public discourse.
