Bangkok:The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) has launched "FTI SME Funding Connect," a platform aimed at connecting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with funding sources from a network of eight financial institutions. This initiative introduces the "SME Health Check" tool, designed to help entrepreneurs assess their business status.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries, led the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with eight financial institutions, including SME D Bank, Government Savings Bank, Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation (TCGC), Kasikornbank, EXIM Bank, Krung Thai Bank, LH Bank, and Mee Tee Mee Ngern. The initiative aims to connect capital for Thai SMEs and serve as a central mechanism to help them access loans, funding sources, and business support services tailored to their individual needs.
The core objective of FTI SME Funding Connect is to address the challenge where capital is available, but SMEs lack access by bridging the gap between entrepreneurs and financial institutions. Ms. Pimjai emphasized that the platform is not about providing loans directly but acting as an intermediary to connect entrepreneurs with existing funding sources and support tools. The project will also help businesses requiring technology, innovation, or market expansion by referring them to relevant agencies.
The platform is envisioned as a "navigation system" for entrepreneurs, simplifying the process of accessing suitable resources and starting points. The "SME Health Check" tool will allow businesses to assess their readiness, financial status, and funding needs, empowering them to understand their potential and limitations before seeking support. The ultimate goal is to prepare SMEs to meet the requirements of each funding source and enhance their chances of accessing financial opportunities.
