First Successful Avocado Orchard in Trang Province Sells Out Rapidly

Trang:The first successful avocado orchard in Trang province has seen its produce sell out in just three days. A 63-year-old farmer, Ms. Saiyut Chansawang, has accomplished this feat by cultivating avocados, marking her as the first successful grower in the region.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Saiyut has been experimenting with avocado cultivation for about 7-8 years and has planted 6-7 varieties. Her Booth 7 variety has proven to be the most suitable for southern Thailand and Trang province, resulting in sweet, creamy, and chewy avocados that are pesticide-free. These avocados, grown in volcanic soil, have quickly become popular, prompting customers to pre-order a year in advance.

Ms. Saiyut's orchard, located in Na Yong District, features over 20 avocado trees, each producing 200-300 fruits this year. The avocados are sold at 70 baht per kilogram, and the saplings are priced between 150-250 baht each. The peak fruiting period occurs from June to August, with each tree yielding over 200 fruits, translating to more than 2,000 baht per tree.

The demand for these avocados is driven by their health benefits, including good fats, stress relief, digestion aid, and heart health. Additionally, avocados contain essential vitamins that keep skin moisturized and youthful. In response to rising demand, Ms. Saiyut has planted over 100 more trees.
