Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has cancelled four southern trains and adjusted six trains after flooding damaged the railway until December 6th. Following the flooding on the railway tracks in the southern region of Phatthalung, Songkhla, and surrounding provinces, the SRT has been forced to close the tracks for repairs and rehabilitation to ensure safety.
According to Thai News Agency, civil engineering officials surveyed the track conditions after the water level receded and found extensive damage due to water blowing away ballast, broken embankments, and damaged track ties in several places. The main route between Ban Ton Don Station and Hat Yai Junction, and Hat Yai Junction Station and Su-ngai Kolok, was particularly affected. The SRT announced the adjustment of six trains and the cancellation of four trains during the period from today until December 6, 2025, to ensure maximum safety.
The rerouted trains include Special Express Train No. 37/38 and Special Express Train No. 45/46, both now operating via Krungthep Apiwat – Phatthalung – Krungthep Apiwat with no unloading. Express Train No. 169/170 will also follow the same rerouted path. The suspended trains include Special Express Train No. 31/32 and Express Train No. 171/172, each serving routes that pass through the affected areas.
The State Railway of Thailand has apologized for any inconvenience caused and has offered full refunds for advance ticket purchases on the affected routes. Passengers are encouraged to check current train schedules through SRT’s public relations channels or the real-time train tracking website.
