Hat yai: The Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) is on track to restore 100% water supply to the regions of Hat Yai and Songkhla by December 3rd. At a recent Flood Emergency Response Operations Center (FROOC) meeting, key officials discussed ongoing efforts to address the water supply disruptions caused by recent flooding in Songkhla Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting was led by Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Government Spokesperson and CRO spokesperson, and attended by Mr. Sutat Nuchpan, Deputy Governor (Operations 1), Acting Deputy Governor (Operations 5), and Mr. Thongchai Rayakunchorn, Director of the Office of Corporate Communications and Customer Relations, Acting Assistant Governor (Corporate Communications and Customer Relations). The officials provided updates on the restoration of the water supply system, water distribution, and relief measures for those affected by the flood crisis via video conference.
Currently, the PWA is delivering tap water through pipes in Hat Yai, covering 80% of the area as of December 1, 2015. In Songkhla City, efforts are underway to replenish water into the distribution system. Once the system reaches full capacity, distribution will commence in the Songkhla Hospital area to maintain continuous service to the community. The PWA has set a target to achieve full water distribution in both Hat Yai and Songkhla City by December 3.
