Bangkok:Flooding continues to affect 26 provinces, impacting over a million households across the country. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) is actively working to provide relief and expedite recovery efforts in the affected areas.
According to Thai News Agency, The provinces experiencing flooding include Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lopburi, Sing Buri, Chai Nat, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ang Thong, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Buriram, Chaiyaphum, and Surin, as well as the capital, Bangkok. In total, 1,175,292 households and 3,244,091 people have been affected.
Significant rainfall and water inflow from the north have exacerbated the flooding situation. Detailed reports indicate varying conditions across the provinces, with some regions experiencing receding water levels, while others face rising waters. Notably, fatalities have been reported in several areas, including Kanchanaburi and Samut Prakan.
The DDPM has mobilized personnel and machinery to assist with drainage, road clearing, and reducing floodwater levels. Priority is given to vulnerable groups, ensuring they receive essential supplies, including food, water, and medicine. The agency is also conducting surveys of damaged properties to facilitate recovery efforts.
In areas where the floodwaters have receded, the DDPM is assessing the damage and coordinating assistance according to established guidelines. Public communication continues to ensure people remain informed about the evolving situation and necessary safety measures.
