Bangkok: Indonesia’s disaster mitigation agency announced Wednesday that eight people have died, and more than 2,000 individuals have been evacuated due to massive flooding in the Sibolga region of North Sumatra province.
According to Thai News Agency, heavy rain overnight triggered flooding and landslides across various parts of the region. Video footage from local media displayed rescue workers utilizing rubber boats to access individuals trapped in inundated areas. With heavy rain persisting in some areas, Indonesian search and rescue agencies have issued warnings urging people to avoid flood-prone zones.
