Bangkok: A male opposition politician and a famous male artist have been linked to money trails within a Forex trading company's accounts. The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is accelerating the questioning of victims and examining crucial evidence before considering issuing summonses to all suspects in the scheme to face charges. The DSI is also revealing the modus operandi of the suspects, whose accounts are linked to several Forex trading companies. Authorities have seized a luxury supercar and a motorcycle belonging to the male artist as evidence in the case.
According to Thai News Agency, the DSI is currently interviewing numerous victims and examining evidence seized during raids on 24 locations targeting a network involved in unauthorized foreign exchange investment and trading. These raids were part of a process to gather evidence for analysis and to investigate the connections between individuals and entities involved. Authorities have frozen 77 related accounts: 57 individual accounts and 20 corporate accounts. Some of these accounts show financial trails linking to prominent individuals, but no summonses or arrest warrants have been issued yet.
The assets seized from the operation include cash, luxury cars, and motorcycles, totaling more than 10 vehicles, gold, electronic equipment, and important documents. Some of the items have been stored at the Department of Special Investigation for use in the investigation.
Furthermore, the list of male opposition politicians and famous male artists suspected in this case includes Mr. Pawut Pongwitayapanu, MP of the People's Party, and Mr. Rattapoom Tokongsap (Film). Tomorrow, the Ministry of Justice and the DSI are scheduled to hold a press conference to announce the results of the operation, along with a progress report on the case and all related evidence.
Regarding the rumors that Mr. Pawut Pongwitthayaphanu might be named as a suspect in the Forex case, Ms. Pakamon Nunanan, a People's Party list MP, stated that if the DSI has not yet made an official statement, it may be unfair to those accused. The People's Party is waiting for an official disclosure of the names from the DSI. She added that whoever is involved must explain their involvement to the public, and the People's Party never protects wrongdoers.
Ms. Pakkamon emphasized the need for fairness and requested that the DSI release the list of names first. She stated that if any individuals in the party are involved, the People's Party will issue a statement with details.
In response to reports that the People's Party was trying to lobby the DSI to postpone the disclosure of the names, Ms. Phakamon stated that she was unaware of this but knew the DSI would be holding a press conference on June 19th. She requested fairness for those named in the allegations and said they must wait for the facts to be revealed in the DSI's press conference.
Ms. Phakamon also commented on the potential impact of the incident on the People's Party in the Bangkok election, stating that all activities have political implications. However, the party will deal with, resolve, and accept all that happens.
