Former Monk Fatally Shoots Ex-Nun in Tragic Love Obsession

Nakhon Si Thammarat: A former monk, driven by an obsessive love, fatally shot a former nun before taking his own life in a tragic incident that unfolded in Thasala District. The authorities were called to the scene where they discovered the body of Mr. Anon, 42, in a bedroom on the second floor of a house located in Soi Mu Ngu. The police report noted a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his right temple, with the bullet exiting through his left side. A .357 caliber gun was found nearby, with two bullets discharged from a six-bullet chamber. Mrs. Jiranan, 39, the injured homeowner, was found with a gunshot wound to her left breast and a head injury. She was promptly taken to Thasala Hospital by rescue workers.

According to Thai News Agency, the investigation revealed that Mr. Anon had recently disrobed after serving as a monk in a local temple. His victim, Ms. Jiranan, was also a former nun from the same temple. The tragic events were set in motion when Mr. Anon, failing to reach Ms. Jiranan by phone, arrived at her house on a motorcycle. Despite calling out to her, he received no response. In a fit of rage, he smashed a glass window to gain entry to her bedroom, where a heated confrontation ensued. Mr. Anon struck Ms. Jiranan with his gun before shooting her in the chest. Believing she was dead, he turned the weapon on himself. However, Ms. Jiranan, still conscious, managed to call her relatives for help and was subsequently transferred to Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital for further treatment.

The motive behind the incident was a troubled affair. Ms. Jiranan revealed that she had a foreign husband and frequently visited the temple where Mr. Anon was a monk to make merit. During this time, they developed a relationship, but tensions arose as Mr. Anon began requesting money. Attempting to distance herself, Ms. Jiranan’s actions triggered Mr. Anon’s anger, leading him to commit the shooting at her home.
