Thongchai Yenprasert, the President of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, and injuring the driver's morning. At 4:50 PM, police at Rattanathibet Police Station took Mr. Chalong into custody after questioning him for over five hours. His personal lawyer was present during the questioning.
Chalong pleaded not guilty, claiming he fired in self-defense after seeing the driver of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization chairman brandish a gun first. Following questioning, police charged Chalong with four offenses: premeditated murder, attempted murder, carrying a firearm in a public place without justification, and firing a gun in a public place without justification. He was then handcuffed and taken into custody. He remained expressionless and did not give any further interviews.
For the next steps, investigators will gather evidence and prepare the case file before taking Mr. Chalong to be remanded in custody at the Nonthaburi Provincial Court tomorrow. The police will consider opposing bail based on the circumstances of the case and the available evidence.
At approximately 5:50 PM, a vehicle from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation transported the body of Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, the President of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, to Rattanathibeth Police Station for family members to confirm his identity and receive the necessary documents. The body will then be sent for autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police Hospital. Tomorrow, family members will collect the body for funeral rites at Wat Saphan Sung, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province.
The funeral and cremation ceremony will be held at Wat Saphan Sung, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, from August 11-19, 2026. On August 11, the bathing of the body ceremony will take place at 3:00 PM, followed by the Buddhist chanting ceremony at 7:00 PM. The cremation ceremony will be held on August 19 at 5:00 PM.
